‘Without taking oath of office’, Ilaka signs release sacking Lg, board chairmen in Oyo

Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Wednesday announced the dissolution of  all local government authorities, including Local Council Development Authorities (LCDAs).

The governor relieved them of their appointments through a statement signed by his newly appointed Chief of Staff, Chief Bisi Ilaka, who has not taken oath of office.

Chief Ilaka was appointed shortly after Governor Makinde’s official inauguration which was held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke -Ado, Ibadan.

The PDP chieftain, Ilaka is expected to be inaugurated today, Thursday.

Also contained in the statement, the governor further directed all Local Government Chairmen  to hand over to their Heads of Local Government Administration (HLA) or the most Senior Directors in their local government areas and councils.

“That all Boards of Parastatals and corporations be dissolved.

“That embargo be placed on all Local and State Government accounts until further directives,” the statement reads.

An oath of office is an oath or affirmation a person takes before undertaking the duties of an office, usually a position in government or within a religious body, although such oaths are sometimes required of officers of other organizations. Such oaths are often required by the laws of the state, religious body, or other organization before the person may actually exercise the powers of the office or any religious body.
