The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested 12 suspects in connection with the death of Arise Television anchor and producer, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, popularly known as Sommie, who was killed during a robbery attack at her Katampe residence in Abuja.
Maduagwu and a private security guard attached to her residence were killed when armed robbers invaded the building in the early hours of September 29.
Confirming the arrests in a statement on Thursday, the police said the suspects confessed to the crime.
According to the statement, four of the suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident through the tracking of mobile phones stolen from the house.
One of the suspects, identified as Shamsudeen Hassan, reportedly confessed to shooting the security guard when he attempted to stop them from gaining access to the compound.
Another suspect, Sani Sirajo, allegedly told investigators that he tried to prevent the deceased journalist from falling off the storey building but was “overwhelmed by her weight.”

5. Mashkur Jamilu, a.k.a. Abba (male), 28, Igabi LGA, Kaduna State
6. Suleiman Badamasi, a.k.a. Dan-Sule (male), 21, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State
7. Abdul Salam Saleh, a.k.a. Na-Durudu (male), Katsina LGA, Katsina State
8. Zaharadeen Muhammad, a.k.a. Gwaska (male), 23, Chikun LGA, Kaduna State
9. Musa Adamu, a.k.a. Musa Hassan (male), 30, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State
10. Sumayya Mohammed, a.k.a. Baby (female), 27, Sammaka LGA, Kaduna State
11. Isah Abdulrahman, a.k.a. Abbati (male), 25, Zaria LGA, Kaduna State
12. Musa Umar, a.k.a. Small (male), 31, Maiduguri LGA, Borno State.
The police said efforts were ongoing to recover stolen items and bring all those involved to justice.
