Ooni has forgiven Sunday Igboho, aide says

Published

on

The Director of Media & Public Affairs to Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Comrade Moses Olafare on Thursday said the highly revered custodian of culture was unperturbed by the abuses of words rained on him by the acclaimed Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as ‘Sunday Igboho ‘ who had two days ago spoken derogatorily about the Yoruba’s greatest monarch. Olafare added that he (Sunday Igboho) has been forgiven.

Also, the Palace of the Ooni of Ife denied issuing an official statement on the viral video in which Sunday Igboho was seen lambasting the Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye over what he alleged as acts of betrayer against his struggle to liberate Yoruba race from the terrorist herdsmen.

Answering questions from newsmen at his office in Ile-Ife , the Ooni’s aide noted that it is not in the style of the Ooni to make official response on any matter that threatens the unity and peace of the country, especially as it affects the descendants of Oduduwa worldwide.
“Sunday Igboho still remains a son to the Ooni. Baba has already forgiven him because he had tendered an apology via a video clip he produced via social media yesterday evening”.

According to Olafare, the royal father could not bicker with any of his sons even in the face of quantum of provocations.

He noted that though, tendering of the unreserved apology to the Ooni by Igboho was the handiwork of Olugbon of Ile-Igbon and Vice Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Olusola Alao who had called the activist to advise and warn him of the consequences that might follow his misconducts towards the Spiritual Head of Oduduwa Race whose sons and daughters are the Yorubas he claimed to be fighting for.

“Before tendering the apology, it was the Baba Olugbon of Ile-igbon that first called and informed Arole Oodua on phone that he had scolded Sunday on phone on his misdeeds and that, and that he would soon tender a public apology to him on the matter via a video release. Sunday Igboho thereafter released the video in which he tendered his apology.

“Even though the way and manner Sunday had behaved was sacrilegious to the Oduduwa throne but he has already apologized and I can confirm that Arole Oodua has forgiven him, because, there is no perfection in humanity. Sunday is a human being like any other normal human being who could misbehave as well. No one is perfect!.

“As the father of all, the Arole Oduduwa Olofin Adimula, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II remains his father who had even identified with him in the past two weeks he had begun with the struggle and he is still solidly behind him for the liberation of the Yorubas from criminal herdsmen who have adamantly terrorized our land. Just that he must watch his back so that people with ulterior motives will not high jack his movement”, he advised.

When asked if the Ooni has ever made an official statement on the issue, Olafare swiftly replied that it not in the habit of the palace to make official statements on any matter that threatens the unity and peace of the country, especially as it affects the descendants of Oduduwa.

“No no no, palace has never officially responded and will never respond over the video. As a matter fact, it is not even our style to do so, and we have a ‘Talkless & Listen more” history on issues like this because we focus more on what unites us together than what divides us as a people of one source”.

“Like I said, he has apologized through Kabiyesi Olugbon who called Baba on his behalf and Arole Oodua has forgiven him. Let’s just let the matter rest”. Olafare said.

The traditional ruler however appealed to all and sundry to let the sleeping dog lies on the matter since Sunday Igboho had been forgiven and life must go on.

Oyo Speaker decries false allegations, assures constituents of more quality representation

Published

on

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin on Sunday said he will not deviate from his mission statement of giving and providing good and quality representation to the people of Ibarapa East Local Government, Ibarapaland in totality and Oyo State in general not minding some unfounded and spurious criticism coming from some faceless political groups.

The Speaker’s statement is coming on the heels of some comments accusing him of non-performance, planned imposition of candidate for local government election, and alleged undue influence and dominance on him by his mother, Yeye Tina Ogundoyin.

Ogundoyin described the comments and allegations as totally untrue, just as he urged the faceless group sponsoring such malicious news to at least consider and judge him by his political activities , accomplisments and vision for the good people of Oyo State and his entire constituents.

The Speaker added that rather than coming up with and suggesting ways of moving Ibarapaland and indeed Oyo State forward, the masterminds of the misleading allegations were hell bent on scoring cheap political points through peddling of false information aimed at casting aspersions on his person, discrediting and blackmailing his political status and dragging the name of his mother in the mud.

“For the umpteenth time, I don’t have any preferred aspirant out of all the five qualified persons jostling to emerge as the PDP candidate for the forthcoming Local Government election in Ibarapa East. I also wish to appeal to the group and its sponsors to leave my mother out of their dirty politicking as Yeye ,who is the Mother to all in Ibarapaland will not impose nor influence the choice of candidate for the LG election. This is democracy and the wish of the people must prevail. My mum is not involved in anything in the Local Government. She has always been reminding me of my election campaign promises to my people and the need to fulfill them. Mum is an advocate of good governance and will not compromise on this,” he said.

According to the Speaker, because of his love and vision for education, he paid WAEC and NECO fees for hundreds of students in his constituency while another fifty benefitted from free JAMB forms , not to mention a modern and functional hospital he built in Lagaye and a place of worship requested for by the people of Oloro village.

“I have two School projects about to be completed, a block of 8 Classrooms at Temidire and another block of 6 Classrooms at Ojonamo in Lanlate . The two will be commissioned during my second year in office in May this year. As I speak, there is an ongoing construction of ten boreholes across all the wards in my Constituency while I am equally set to distribute hundreds of Motorcycles, Refrigerators, Generating Sets and others amongst my constituents. This is part of the empowerment program meant to mark my two years in office. This is not to mention my effort on the present status of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa and the facilitation of the accreditation of new courses for the Institution. ”

“Some of my Constituents have also enjoyed some employment opportunities and recommendations for appointment and other assistance through my good office. It is also noteworthy for me to mention my singular effort in the choice of Eruwa Farm Settlement by Governor Seyi Makinde for the 7.6billion naira Agricultural loan meant to develop two farm settlements into farm estates in Oyo State”

While commenting on the activities of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly under his watch, the Speaker said that it was unprecedented that less than two years , the House had passed about sixty laws, had one hundred and forty-two resolutions and eighty-two Motions as against seventy-four laws passed by the 8th Assembly in four years.

He added that this is aside from the oversight functions of the 9th Oyo State House of Assembly which had helped in engendering good governance, complimenting the efforts of all arms of Government and enhancing the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of Oyo State.

“I am happy that the House of Assembly I preside over has achieved quite a lot in less than two years in office. Of note is the passage of the Open Rearing and Grazing (Prohibition) law, Oyo State security Network (Amotekun) Law, Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law.

Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency Law, Oyo State Investment & Public Private Partnership Agency Law, Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency Law, Lautech Amendment Law, Local Government (Pension) Fund Law, Tourism & Hospitality law and Child Sexual Offences Law just to mention but few. We are ready to do more as my vision is to set more records for the Oyo State House of Assembly as well as make lasting impacts in my Constituency and Ibarapaland as a whole. ” Hon Ogundoyin stated

Oyo state Deputy Governor and chairman of Oyo State Boundary Commission, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan has recommended a bilateral meeting of boundary committees of territory-striving parties to facilitate effective understanding and hasten dispute resolution.

Olaniyan made the recommendations , when he led the state boundary committee to  attend the interactive session of the National Boundary Commission (NBC) alongside other Deputy Governors of the Southwest zone in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

He  asserted that a joint meeting of both parties will ensure a smooth understanding of every striving party’s background thus making it easy to compare notes, make compromises and resolve crisis without any party feeling cheated.

He further said he believes in the pattern of give and take adding that boundary dispute resolution  is not a winner takes it all but its a case of “no victor, no vanquished”.

Engr. Olaniyan enjoined the National Boundary Commission (NBC) to move to implement resolutions from dispute mediation so that all parties will know their rights, privileges and territories and crises will not rise again after a peace accord has been reached.

He pointed out that the traditional institutions have a role to play in territory marking but the government is trying to incorporate them to align with patterns of administration, stating that their roles in addressing border communities can not be relegated.

In his opening address, the Ogun state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun enjoined the delegates to draw up practical recommendations that will serve as a template for all boundary dispute resolution in the country.

He added that the people at the communities will be at the receiving end and will suffer the effects of boundary related crisis and they should try to save the people from such suffering.

The Deputy Governor of Ogun state, Engineer Noimat Salako-Oyedele said that there has been a good relationship between Ogun and Oyo states and this has helped in deescalating disputes that could have snowballed into crises.

She called on the NBC to act as an independent arbiter to review existing policies and help in resolving lingering boundary disputes that exist between both states.

In their separate remarks, Deputy Governors from Osun, Lagos, Ondo and Ekiti unanimously agreed that it is necessary to look into the boundary related issues and resolve them to engender understanding and strengthen the relationship between all states.

The chairman of the plenary,  Emeritus Professor Anthony Asiwaju said boundaries are created as a bridge and should not be seen as a wall buy a link
