Contained in a statement by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Com. Yera Moses Olafare, the Grand Resort, located beside the tollgate on the Ife-Ibadan expressway is a brand new city of hubs driven by urban renewal initiatives of the Ooni Ogunwusi to serve as the hub for sustainable development, fountain of employment generation, radar of empowerment and satellite for branding and showcasing the cultural heritage and value of Ile-Ife, the source and natural headquarters of the Ile Oduduwa race globally.

According to the statement, the huge investment is a legacy project embarked upon by Ooni Ogunwusi for urban renewal and redevelopment into the current smart city global requirements in the selfless spirit of ‘Charity Begins At Home’

The Ife Grand Resort and Leisure, which is planted on over 1000 acres of land will aside from offering facilities for exquisite lodging/accommodation, harbour multiple industrial parks with pockets of industries currently producing many industrial and agricultural products as well as rendering essential services to the resort, the Ife community and Nigeria.

Sitting comfortably within the Ife Grand Resort which is a focal attraction on Friday is the 3000 seating capacity Meeting Incentives Conference and Event(MICE) Centre branded ‘Ojaja Arena’, a complex of architectural wonder planted by Ooni Ogunwusi to add value of relevance to urban renewal in Ile – Ife.

Ooni Ogunwusi disclosed that he deliberately brought the 3000 seating capacity event centre to make Ile-Ife the epicentre of MICE in Africa, saying that the ‘Ojaja Arena’ has been configured and positioned with all facilities to satisfy demands of Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Event adding that it would also shore up intellectual and congregational activities in Ile Ife, the ancient source of mankind.

“We are building a brand new city driven by urban renewal initiative. The Ojaja Arena is basically not built for social activities but a centre for training and manpower development for youths in this country, considering Ile-Ife to have over 500 thousand students of about 20 tertiary institutions; Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education and Schools of Nursing within 100km radius surrounding Obafemi Awolowo University built at the nucleus Centre in Ife over 60 years ago.

The question in my lips has been, what will these young vibrant youths will be doing after tertiary institutions, the best bet is to set up a hub that is technology friendly to boost and drive small and medium scale industries within our country Nigeria by creating a smart city for them to display whatever they can do to become employers of labour after graduation. It is a sad truth that no industries to employ them all. We can only encourage them to create industries for and by themselves because that is the reality on ground”. Ooni said.

The natural traditional head of the House Oduduwa worldwide also revealed that “One of the industrial parks within the Ife Grand Resort Colony, the Adire hub has engaged 50 people, empowered over 150 others and started producing adire in bales which are being exported to foreign countries.

He also disclosed that one of the agricultural parks which specializes in rearing of Ostriches has also employed another set of 40 staff who have started rearing Ostriches in an unprecedented manner with the vision to produce ostrich hides and skin in high commercial quantity for export purposes .

The Co-chairman, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria(NCTRN) revealed that the various industrial parks have started receiving collaboration and acknowledgement from Africas in diaspora who are willing and ready to train and empower interested individuals in various segments of the park.

“We have received pledges for training and exchange programs between the Brazilian, Cuban and other governments in the carribeans towards the empowerment of Nigerian youths both the male and female folks for post- COVID -19 empowerment action plan”

“We are occupying over 1,000 acres, we are building a brand new city that Urban renewal and it is going to be a itech environment, it is a smart city that will have a hub, industrial hub, Ostrich farming hub, Adire Hub, Green farming, Sport Academy, film and entertainment village. The resort it is a culture and tourism destination that is close to nature. You don’t even have to move around the country.”

“What we’re doing is to replicate this, we have already commenced in Ondo, Oyo and Lagos states and we shall be launching these projects concurrently. It is a means of creating an avenue for our young minds to see Nigeria from a positive perspective, so we’re creating a country from a country.

“A country in the sense that is a localized environment, for them to be there and be successful and reach out to the world like the typical Adire hub that we have done we are exporting to 25 countries now. We are shipping to everywhere in the world and we have agents all over.

“We started that one just three months ago and it is fast gaining global recognition, the same we are going to start organic remedies (Our herbal medicinal products recently launched strategically with YEMKEM). We’ll soon have a factory here from where we’ll send it to the world.

“So it is an industrial park that is fintech driven and it is through fintech that we’re even selling what we are selling at the hub. They place orders from anywhere globally and we ship to them, life is easy for everybody.

“There is equally the African village that reminds us of our ancient ways of living and yet bring it to the modern world, everything that has to do with pan African is there. Then the sporting arena is another industry that is huge, we would have a mini camp for training and development in the sporting world. We are going to have an 18 hole Golf Course.” Ooni said.

The resort is scheduled to host the Grand reception aspect of the installation activities for the Iyalaje of Oduduwa Race worldwide to be conferred on the Lagos business magnate cum philanthropist, Princess (Dr.) Toyin Kolade by the Arole Oduduwa, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife on Saturday.

2027: Makinde’s Presidential Bid, Escape Route from Graft Probe – Oyo APC

Published

on

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has described Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential project as a script packaged to create an avenue for him to escape from the country before May 29, 2027, in his desperate bid to evade justice in view of the many alleged cases of graft and abuse of office hanging over him.

Makinde, who is in his second and final term in office as the Executive Governor of Oyo State, is the presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in the 2027 general elections and is allegedly squandering the resources of Oyo State on random political activities.

In a statement issued at the weekend and made available to journalists in Ibadan by its Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the Oyo APC faulted the reported declaration of Monday, September 21, as a public holiday in the state to popularise a musical concert organised to entertain some fun-seeking youths in Ibadan, describing the development as an abuse of office by the governor.

“Many political watchers have been wondering how an accidental governor like Seyi Makinde would dream of becoming a president at a time when a master of the game has his hands on the lever. Some pundits have also described Gov. Makinde’s tall dream as a mere show of comedy since it is devoid of any substance, clear-cut strategy and seriousness on his part as a contestant.

“Meanwhile, we can authoritatively inform the whole world that Makinde is only out to hoodwink Nigerians, distract the anti-graft agencies which are on his cases and also secure an escape route from the country anytime from January 1, 2027. We are working on the details of his plans even as relevant security agents are already on red alert because he (Makinde) will be made to answer for all his atrocities since he was sworn in as governor in May 2019.

“False asset declaration, diversion of local government council funds, contract sum variation, money laundering, land grabbing, sponsorship of violence, illegal sale of government properties, collection of fraudulent loans, contempt of court and disobedience to court orders, among other crimes, are too weighty to be swept under the carpet. The governor and the handful of individuals who are liable to prosecution over these cases know what lies ahead of them, and this explains why they want to run away before May 29, 2027.

“After he had played an inglorious role in the relegation of the PDP, Makinde made it to a colourless APM and hijacked the party’s presidential ticket. The same APM was roundly beaten in the by-elections held in six different constituencies across the country over the weekend, as it can only boast of a few members in Oyo and Bauchi states out of the 36 states and the FCT. How, then, can Makinde contest and win a presidential election in the country under the unpopular political party?” APC queried.

Oseni congratulates Ajimobi on Nigeria’s IAEA Board appointment

Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi

Hon. Aderemi Oseni, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, has congratulated Nigeria’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to Austria and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Dr. Florence Ajimobi, on her appointment as Nigeria’s Governor on the agency’s Board of Governors.

Oseni, who represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and chairs the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), described the appointment as a development worthy of celebration in Oyo State and across the country.

In a statement on Sunday by his Media Aide, Idowu Ayodele, the lawmaker also congratulated the Federal Government on Nigeria’s election to the 35-member IAEA Board of Governors for the 2026 -2028 term.

Nigeria was elected to the Board during the 70th Regular Session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, Austria. Following the election, Ajimobi was appointed to represent Nigeria as Governor on the Board and will participate in its meetings and those of its committees.

The APC chieftain said Ajimobi’s new assignment would give Nigeria an opportunity to contribute to discussions around the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology, nuclear safety and security, safeguards and international cooperation.

He said the appointment was also a recognition of the diplomatic responsibilities the former Oyo first lady had undertaken on behalf of Nigeria.

“I congratulate Her Excellency, Ambassador Florence Ajimobi on her appointment as Nigeria’s Governor on the IAEA Board of Governors.

“This is a good development for her, for Oyo State and for Nigeria. She now has another important responsibility to represent the country, and I am confident that her experience will be useful in carrying out the assignment,” Oseni said.

The lawmaker said Nigeria’s participation in the IAEA Board could also help the country strengthen its cooperation with the agency and explore greater use of nuclear science and technology in sectors directly affecting the lives of its people.

According to him, such areas include healthcare, agriculture, food security, water-resource management and human-capacity development.

Oseni expressed confidence that Ajimobi would use the opportunity to advance Nigeria’s interests and promote initiatives that would further harness the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology for national development.

He added: “At a time when science and technology are becoming increasingly important to development, Nigeria must make the most of its membership of the Board.

“I wish Chief Ajimobi a successful tenure and pray that her service will bring further opportunities for Nigeria and strengthen our engagement with the IAEA.”

Oseni also commended the Federal Government for Nigeria’s election to the Board, saying the country’s representation would enable it to take part in decisions and discussions concerning the agency’s work.

He wished Ajimobi success in her new assignment, noting that her appointment was another opportunity for a Nigerian diplomat to contribute to issues with implications for the country’s development.

Makinde Advertised His Ignorance of Law, Needs Law 101 – Alli’s Campaign Organisation Fires Back

Published

on

The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation on Saturday took a swipe at Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, accusing him of displaying “gross ignorance” of the legal profession over his claim that the former attorney never practised law.

The organisation said the governor’s comment was a major legal blunder and urged him to take a crash course in what it described as “Law 101” before making further pronouncements on the profession.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the organisation, Bisi Oladele, stated this in a statement issued on Saturday in response to Makinde’s comment during a reception held to welcome him from his annual leave.

Oladele described the governor’s remark as “laughable,” alleging that Makinde had displayed his ignorance of the legal profession while attempting to discredit Alli ahead of the 2027 political contest.

The organisation said Alli’s legal career dated back to 1987, when he began his National Youth Service Corps programme with A.E. Enumah & Associates in Nnewi, Anambra State.

According to the statement, Alli was retained by the firm after his service before returning to Ibadan and joining R.A. Sarumi & Co., Solicitors, Advocates and Notary Public.

It said Alli remained in legal practice until 1991, when he became the first executive chairman of Ibadan North Local Government.

The statement added that Alli later returned to private practice and established Biodun Alli & Co. in Ibadan in 1994, where he remains the principal partner.

“Contrary to Makinde’s ignorant assertion, Senator Sharafadeen Alli is not a portfolio lawyer. He is a thoroughbred legal practitioner,” the organisation said.

The campaign organisation challenged the governor to verify Alli’s professional record with the Nigerian Bar Association and the Corporate Affairs Commission.

“Makinde could have done a simple check if governance had not been reduced to roadside talk,” it said.
The organisation also took exception to the suggestion that a lawyer’s professional status depends solely on appearing in court.

It said, “Even if Senator Alli had never seen the four walls of a courtroom, what crime would that have been?”
The group further accused Makinde of displaying what it called a “shocking illiteracy” about the scope of legal practice.

It said, “We are happy to school him further for free: Law 101.”

According to the organisation, being called to the Nigerian Bar does not require a lawyer to remain permanently in courtroom advocacy, noting that lawyers also work in government, the legislature, corporate organisations, academia, private chambers and arbitration.

The campaign organisation said Alli had deployed his legal training in various capacities, including as chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Chief of Staff, chairman of Odu’a Investment Company Limited and now as a senator.

It urged Makinde to “elevate his discourse,” accusing him of reducing political engagement in the state to personal attacks.

“We urge Governor Makinde to elevate his discourse. The Office of the Governor of Oyo State is a sacred place of decorum, not a beer parlour where beer parlour gist is traded,” the statement said.

The organisation also accused the governor of resorting to what it described as “petty, jealousy-driven attacks” rather than engaging Alli on governance and other issues ahead of the 2027 elections.

It maintained that Alli’s professional history was verifiable and urged the governor to check the facts before making further comments about the senator’s legal career.
