IMO: Police Parade Suspected Killer Of Ex-Corps Member

Imo State Police Command on Monday arrested one Chukwuemeka Eze for allegedly raping and killing a 27-year-old female, Lilian Mgbanwa, who just completed her National Youth Service Corps.

Eze, who hails from Mgbidi in Oru West Local Government Area of the state, was paraded by the Force Public relations Officer, Frank Mba, at the Police Command Headquarters in Owerri, the state capital.

The police spokesman informed that Eze was arrested after an indigene of the community hinted  the police.

Mba, also disclosed that the suspect has so far confirmed to have committed the crime and also taken the police to the scene where the remains of the victim were buried.

According to the force’s publicist, “Not only did Chukwuemeka Eze rape the innocent young woman at the end of that sexual assault, he also went ahead to cover his crime by murdering the innocent woman.

“But like we have always told people, there are no perfect crimes anywhere in the world.”

“After committing the crime, the suspect was said to have taken the victim’s phone to a shop where he intended to charge it.

“A very observant Nigerian who owns the shop looked at Chukwuemeka Eze who had brought this phone to his shop and was very convinced from his character, that he probably may not be the owner of the phone.

“As soon as Emeka turned his back, this very patriotic Nigerian turned on the phone and the first call that came was from a blood relative of the murdered female who requested to speak to her sister.

“It was in the course of that conversation that it became very clear that Emeka was not the owner of the phone”, Mba narrated

Lagos police nab fake EFCC operative, suspected cultist

The Lagos state  police command have arrested one Emeka Emmanuel with a fake identity card of the Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) at the Iyana Iba area of the state.

A statement from the State Police Command on Sunday said operatives also arrested suspected cultist, Emmanuel Olatunde, also known as pastor in the Bariga area of the state.

Mr Bala Elkana, the command’s spokesman, explained that 29-year-old Emeka was apprehended on Saturday night by operatives of the Ojo Police Station while acting on credible intelligence.

The suspect was in possession of a fake EFCC ID card which he uses in parading himself as an EFCC operative. The suspect duped innocent citizens under the pretence of providing them employment with the EFCC as operatives.

“One Olaposi Semiu ‘m’ of Agbara, Lagos who is one of such victimstold police investigators that the suspect collected the sum of N51,000 from him over a month ago with a promise of securing employment for his son as an EFCC operative,” he said.

According to him, the suspect who was also found to be operating an illegal medical facility in his residence confessed to committing the crime.

While the police recovered medical equipment and fake certificates from him, Elkana said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as they conclude investigation.

He also advised members of the public, especially job seekers to be mindful of the activities of such people in order not to fall prey of their antics.

On the other hand, 31-year-old Olatunde was arrested following sustained monitoring at Oremenunu Ibafo Street in Bariga.

The suspect, according to Elkana, is an ex-convict and is a high ranking member of Eiye Confraternity, terrorising people in Bariga.

“He (Olatunde) has a link with a series of robberies and murder cases in Bariga. He is responsible for the murder of one Ahmed Karowi, an Aiye Confraternity kingpin on 11th September 2019,” he added.

Elkana said the suspect would also be charged to court as soon as they conclude investigation.

Another set of 30 kidnap victims released in Katsina

No fewer than  thirty set of kidnap victims have been released in Katsina State.

The 30 persons were handed over to the state governor,  Aminu  Masari on Saturday, bringing the number of persons released so far to 45, as the ongoing peace deal enters its third week.

Addressing the returnees, the Governor Masari assured that his administration will not relent in its efforts to secure the release of others still in captivity.

He also directed that the returnees be taken to the hospital for health checks before heading home to join their families.

One of the victims, Zinatu Sani from Kankara told journalists that she was abducted from her matrimonial home with two of her children.

She said that the bandits initially demanded a ransom of N20 million which was later reduced to N6 million, which she said her family couldn’t pay.

She said the suspected bandits used to give them raw rice to cook with only water  and salt.

Sani narrated that they slept in an open space for fifty-five (55) days whether it rained or not.

She further disclosed that there were still a lot of people in captivity inside the forest.

The freed victims were later handed over to the transition committee chairmen of Kankara and Jibiya LGs for medical check-up and eventual reunification with their families.

PHOTOS : NDLEA nabs suspected supplier of marijuana to Bokoharam, 20 others in Taraba

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Thursday arrested no fewer than 21 suspected drug dealers in Taraba State.

The suspects, including one person accused of supplying drugs to Boko Haram insurgents, were paraded at the NDLEA office in Jalingo, the state capital.

According to Mr Suleiman Jadi, the state commander of the agency, the officials seized about 299.6 kilograms of drugs within four months of operation.

The NDLEA state commander, also disclosed that  Mohammed Ibrahim, one of the suspects said to be a major supplier of drugs to Boko Haram was apprehended with 153 compressed blocks of Cannabis Sativa, also known as Marijuana.

The NDLEA boss blamed unemployment and peer group influence as  the major reasons why youth indulge in drug abuse.

Jadi, who noted that they were faced with various challenges as a unit, disclosed further that nine of the suspects have been charged to court.
