Eden Hazard transfer latest: Real Madrid ‘offer Chelsea star £13m-a-year deal’ as £170m move edges closer

Real Madrid are reportedly ready to make Eden Hazard their highest-paid player if he completes his £170million move from Chelsea.

The Belgian star looks set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer with the Bernabeu his most likely destination.

Reports in Spain suggest a fee has already been agreed between the two clubs as the Champions League winners bid to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

And with the Portuguese star off the wage bill, Hazard would instantly be the highest-paid at the club, alongside Gareth Bale.

According to reports in Spain Hazard would earn £13m a year, more than Sergio Ramo and Toni Kroos.

Hazard currently earns £10m a year in London but the same report claims Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to match Real’s offer.

New Blues boss Maurizio Sarri hopes to convince Hazard and teammate Thibaut Courtois to ignore the advances of the Spanish giants.

Chelsea’s failure to qualify for the Champions League will not aid Sarri’s cause but he is hopeful his coaching methods can convince the pair to stay.

“The players you are referring to are very high level players and I would like to keep them in my squad,” the Italian said at his unveiling on Wednesday.

“A telephone call without looking them in the eyes would not give me any certainty.

“I would like to meet these players face to face, talk to them and understand what the best thing to do would be for everyone.

“Before that I would also like a player to come on the pitch for four or five days together with me, to have a clear idea of what the situation is.

“Hazard is a very high-level player. He’s one of the top two or three European players.”
