The APC chieftain, who disclosed this in a telephone interview with Mega Icon Magazine further revealed that the defection was as a result of disagreements in the party, describing the current political situation in the state as an opportunity to rebuild the former ruling party.
The former Senator, who acknowledged that the crisis would have been avoided if some of the stakeholders and political gladiators heeded wise counsel, however averred that the party is back as one family.
He, equally assured that the APC will emerge from the crisis stronger because all “stakeholders will work hard to rebuild the party”.
“All of us will work together to re-position the party. The party will go back to the drawing board to move ahead. APC will bounce back and we will reclaim power in the next election.”
While appealing to all party members to remain united as one family, Senator Akanbi added that the APC was ready to receive back all its former members who defected to other parties at the peak of the crisis.
