The former minister of communications assured that the group would take the “Tinubu’s message of hope” through various channels of communication to the electorate in the remotest part of the country.

According to him. “We are ready to take the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential campaign to every nook and cranny of this nation. We shall get to all the 36 states and the FCT: we shall be in all the 774 local government areas of the country, and we shall visit each of the 8,813 wards in the country. We shall get in touch with all eligible voters and reach every Nigerian. This is a very important campaign and we shall give it all that it requires, we shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that Asiwaju emerges as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria after the 2023 presidential election

“Let me emphasize that ATPCO will cooperate fully with the party’s National Campaign Council set up by the party. But for us to make a success of the campaign, all hands must be on deck in good time”, he added.

Shittu thanked the APC leadership and members of the party for their support in ensuring that Tinubu emerged as the presidential candidate of the party

He said, “At this juncture, may I start by expressing profound appreciation and gratitude first to the Northern APC Governors for their overwhelming and ice-breaking support for our Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu before APC’s Presidential Primary Election. This was at a most-defining game-changing moment that substantially galvanized support for Asiwaju’s eventual triumph.

“Secondly, our gratitude goes to President Buhari for his maturity. selflessness and patriotism in supporting the earlier resolution of the Northern APC Governors. This most stabilizing Presidential ingenuity contributed, no doubt, to uniting our great party toward a successful Presidential Primary

“Last but not the least, is our other Presidential Aspirants who withdrew from the Presidential Primary, out of respect for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as our party progress. They all deserve the applause of all Nigerians for their maturity, patriotism, and sincere love for our great party “

The DG noted that the task ahead may be daunting, he however maintained that the business of marketing Tinubu would be easy, saying “he is a man of immense goodwill. He is very much loved by Nigerians across regions and religions. He is at home with people of diverse culture and orientation and that makes him the obvious choice to make our nation great”

The APC chieftain continued, “Tinubu’s antecedents speak volumes of his abilities. He is head and shoulders above other flag-bearers when it comes to understanding the economy. He loves the youth and wants the best for them. He is interested in the welfare of the downtrodden and wants to help them get better. He is a champion of social justice. He is the kind of President Nigeria needs to take it to the envisioned height”

Shittu, who solicited the support and cooperation of the media on the project, also urged journalists to be diligent and forward-looking in their reportage, discourse, agenda-setting, and editorials, and not to overheat the polity.

“Rather we must always be nation builders. Let your reports be incisive and such that would help members of the public to make the right choice and take the right actions. We must avoid any act inimical to our unity as a nation and anything that can truncate the electoral process before and during the 2023 elections”, the DG said.

In a historic ruling, a Ugandan court on Friday sentenced former Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) commander Thomas Kwoyelo to 40 years in prison.

This landmark decision, marking the first time a member of the notorious LRA has faced trial for war crimes in a Ugandan court, follows the group’s brutal two-decade insurgency against the Ugandan government.

Kwoyelo, who was convicted in August on 44 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity, faced charges including murder, rape, torture, pillaging, abduction, and the destruction of settlements for internally displaced people.

Michael Elubu, lead judge of the case at the International Crimes Division (ICD) of Uganda’s High Court, delivered the sentence in the northern city of Gulu, underscoring a rare moment of accountability in the decades-long history of the LRA’s violence.

Judge Elubu stated that Kwoyelo retains the right to appeal both his conviction and sentence within 14 days.

Kwoyelo, who was abducted by the LRA at the age of 12 and later rose to a low-level command position within the organization, denied all charges brought against him.

The Lord’s Resistance Army, founded by Joseph Kony in the 1980s, sought to establish a regime based on the Ten Commandments. Under Kony’s leadership, the group unleashed widespread terror across Uganda and neighboring regions, resulting in over 100,000 deaths and the abduction of 60,000 children.

The violence eventually spread to Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and the Central African Republic.
