2023 Presidency: SWAGA crosses The Niger, launches pro-Tinubu group in Kogi

In pursuit of its core objective of ensuring the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria, a group loyal to the former governor of Lagos state – the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), last Saturday, officially launched  the North Central Agenda (NCA) in Kogi state.

Tinubu, a leader in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.

The group,  led by its National Chairman, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye, had earlier embarked on sensitization and consultation tour to the North Cetral zone of Nigeria beginning with Kogi State.

At the palace of the Attah of Igalaland, His Royal Majesty, Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche on Thursday 17th, March 2022, the revered monarch, despite his bereavement created time to welcome the team, just as he prayed for the success of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his bid for presidency.

The group condoled with the monarch on the demise of his brother and prayed for the soul of the departed.

Very early on Friday 18th March, the team in company with Alhaji Ibrahim Raji, the North Central Coordinating Chairman for NCA proceeded to Okene to visit the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr. Attah Ado Ibrahim at his expansive palace.

Remarking, Senator Dayo Adeyeye lauded the monarch for the unique manner in which he has conducted the affairs of his people despite being above 90 years of age. He commended the Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his efforts in maintaining security of the state and its people despite the challenges being faced everywhere.

The former minister further sought the support and prayers of the Monarch for the success of Tinubu  in the coming race.

Reacting, the host went down the memory lane as regards his sojourn in Lagos, his relationship with the State and its people, his school days, saying, “ on my honour and with my whole heart I pray that Asiwaju Tinubu succeeds on this project while I leave the rest of my prayers between me and my creator. I am very happy today for this visit”.

The train moved to Kabba in Okunland where His Royal Majesty, the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Oladele Owoniyi, Obaro Otitoleke Oweyomade I received the delegation.

The monarch eulogized Tinubu for his role in mentorship of others regardless of their ethnic backgrounds,  referring to Hon. James Faleke , an indigene of Okunland who has benefited from such gesture.

He wished the former governor of Lagos state well and pray he will succeed to do more for the benefit of Nigerians.

Oba Owoniyi, who  appreciated the team for visiting, also admonished them not to betray Tinubu now or in future.

The visitations rounded up at the palace of Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Mohammed Kabiru Maikarfi III.  He prayed for the team, pledging further prayers for the success of the project.

Also in attendance were the National Secretary of SWAGA’23,  Hon. Bosun Oladele, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, Hon. Rotimi Makinde, Hon. Oloruntoba Oke, Hon Julius Oloro, Hon. Mukaila Musa, Hon. Gani Omoluka, Alhaji Ibrahim Raji, Hajia Fatima Bello, Hajia, Azeezat Yusuf Ogundipe and Madam Yinka Olaiya Bethola.

PDP chieftain, Aminu congratulates elected Oyo LG chairmen, councilors

Hon. Lukmon Aminu, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in  Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency of Oyo state,  has extended his congratulations to the newly elected chairmen, vice chairmen, and councilors across the 33 local government councils.

The official announcement of the election results by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) on April 27th marked a significant victory for the PDP, prompting Aminu to commend Governor Seyi Makinde and the party’s governing council for their success at the polls.

Aminu’s statement, released on Thursday, not only lauded the electoral victory but also praised the active participation of party members and the peaceful conduct of voters throughout the entire process.

He stressed the importance of the newly elected officials recognising their roles as a call to service, particularly in this critical time.

In his message to the newly appointed chairmen, Aminu urged them to uphold fairness and justice, transcending political affiliations, and to remain focused on fulfilling their commitments to the electorate.

He emphasised that true development begins at the grassroots level,  urging them to prioritise the needs of their communities.

Expressing gratitude to the electorate for their overwhelming support of the PDP and its candidates, Aminu underscored the significance of citizen participation in the democratic process.

Alleviating Hunger : Rep Olafisoye distributes rice, cash to over 2000 constituents in Oyo

Federal lawmaker representing Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency, in Oyo State, Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede Wasiu, made a significant impact on Tuesday as he distributed rice and cash to over 2000 individuals in his constituency as part of his empowerment programme.

According to Olafisoye, popularly known as Lafi, the gesture aims to alleviate hunger, improve economic livelihoods, and address the challenges of starvation within his constituency.

The 3-in-1 empowerment programme, hosted at the Faith Joe Civic Center along Akobo Oju Irin, Alegongo, Ibadan, saw 1,700 people receive a bag of rice each, while 300 small-scale traders were granted #100,000 each to bolster their businesses.

Also, 200,000 notebooks were distributed to students in primary and secondary schools across all wards in the Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency.

The lawmaker emphasised that the rice distribution was conducted in collaboration with the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, aiming to mitigate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal implemented by the government last year.

Assuring his constituents of his unwavering commitment to providing quality representation that positively transforms their lives, Hon. Olafisoye urged those who did not benefit from the programme to exercise patience, promising future opportunities for them to benefit.

In attendance was Barr. Issac Ajiboye Omodewu, representing the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State, who commended the lawmaker’s initiative, noting the substantial number of beneficiaries reached by the programme.

Expressing their gratitude, beneficiaries highlighted the rarity of such extensive empowerment programmes, particularly from a first-time lawmaker.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries including Sen. Yunus Akintunde, represented by Mr. Biodun Adeyemo, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe, Hon. Kehinde Subair, Hon. Akin Alli, Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, Hon. Murphy Adigun, Hon. Bolaji Badmus, directors from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, royal fathers, and baales from Akinyele and Lagelu local governments, APC chairmen, representatives from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Islamic clerics, among others.

Oyo Rep, Olafisoye to empower over 2000 constituents April 30

In a bid to address the economic challenges faced by his constituents, Hon. Olafisoye Akinmoyede Wasiu, representing Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency in Oyo State, has unveiled plans to empower over 2000 individuals.

Better known as “Lafi,” the Member of the House of Representatives revealed this initiative in a statement provided to the press.

Scheduled for Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, the Economic Empowerment Programme will commence at 9 a.m. at the Faith Joe Civic Center, situated beside Community High School, Alegongo, Ibadan.

Olafisoye, who also chairs the House Committee on Nigeria/Mexico Parliamentary Friendship, underscored that the programme aims to mitigate the adverse effects experienced by constituents following the removal of fuel subsidies by the federal government last year.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the lawmaker emphasized its focus on enhancing the standard of living for beneficiaries within the Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency.

Moreover, he expressed the programme’s broader objective of alleviating hardship and combating starvation among constituents.

The event is expected to draw various dignitaries, including the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Barr. Issac Ajiboye Omodewu, alongside members of the state working committee.

Also anticipated are traditional and religious leaders from the Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency, as well as representatives from local markets, artisans, security agencies, and APC members within the constituency.
