Akanbi, who represented Oyo South Senatorial District between 2015-2019, also urged members of the party to unite so as to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party (APC) from power in the state.

The APC chieftain stated this during a chat with newsmen in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, on Tuesday.

He maintained that the party needed loyal and committed members willing to go to the field and work for its victory

According to the former lawmaker, “This is the beginning of a new journey to reclaim Oyo state and the contest starts with electing not only vibrant, but loyal party exco at all levels. Exco that will be loyal to the party and its success and not individuals or a particular aspirant.

“It starts with members of executive that are committed to our party and that can sacrifice for the APC in order to ensure our victory.

“It is not about people who want to be Chairman, Secretary, among others for the sake of ego of the office, money or personal gains, but ready to go to the field and work for the party.

Akanbi continued, “What is important to us as progressives is good governance that’s why we need to get it right now. So, we want executive who are ready to ensure that APC reclaims Oyo state, but, It will be difficult for our party to achieve this if we work at cross purposes.

“Victory in 2023 is only possible with strong unity. I therefore, call on other stakeholders to show more commitment to the party and see its success as paramount”

Sen. Akanbi, however called on members to cast aside their differences and be more committed to the party for electoral victory, urging other stakeholders to be more focus on strengthening the for a more rewarding bargain.
