Women Need to Be Positively Engaged With Their Endowment,Talents,Skills for Societal Growth’

THE need to harness the potentialities,skills and talents of women for the growth of the society has been canvassed.

In a press conference, heralding the MISS CAMPUS SOUTHWEST NIGERIA BEAUTY PAGEANT SECOND EDITION  2017,the Creative Director/CEO, Miss Campus Southwest Nigeria , Prince Taiwo Gbadebo canvassed the position.

According to Prince Gbadebo:”Having  understood the role of women in nation-building, they need to be engaged positively, with their natural endowment, talents, entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and abilities to turn things around for effective sustainability and growth of the society at large.

Themed:’THE ROYAL YOU’, the pageant would hold at Daktad Suites Event Hall,Quarry Road Abeokuta,Ogun State on November 5,2017 by 6:00 p.m.

Established to harness the potential  of female students across  tertiary institutions of learning in Southwest geo-political zone of Nigeria,the concept is under  the mentorship of Prof.  Olajumoke Familoni as a patroness, a professor of Entrepreneurship,Strategy and Organizational Leadership

“It is an Initiative of DDMC model management (subsidiary of Solfar Links) endorsed by National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest Zone D, led by Comrade Ogunsola Okikiola”, Gbadebo said.

Speaking on how participants were selected, Gbadebo said:”An audition was conducted for over 40 participants  purposely to scout and search for the brilliant, beautiful and intelligent model that will represent the above title, among the southwestern students in Nigeria.

According to Prince Gbadebo, the parcipating institutions are Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-ife,  Sun State; Adeleke University Ede, Osun State; Osun State College of Education, Ilesa; Federal University of Technology, Akure, Info State and Ondo State  University of Science and Technology ,Okitipupa.

Not left out are University of Ibadan, Federal University of Technology Oye-Ekiti, , Lagos State University , Federal College of Education (Techincal) Akoka, University of Lagos, Lagos, Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, Tai Solarin University of Education Ijebu-Ode, Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, and Olabisi Onabanjo University,Ago-Iwoye, in Ogun State.

Others are Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, National Open University of Nigeria, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,Ojere and Federal College of Education, Abeokuta.

“After this thorough and tasking screening exercise 21contestants were shortlisted for the second edition of Miss Campus Southwest Nigeria Beauty Pageant 2017.

“The goal is not to pick the most beautiful girl as a winner including   runner-ups and Ambassadors, but a beautiful girl with brain who will use her beauty and good office to further meaningful causes, she  will be committed mostly on life-changing projects by organizing an entrepreneurial workshop  and sensitization programmes for fellow students and youth on issues that are detrimental to the society such as, Prostitution, HIV/AIDS, Drug Abuse, Cultism, Gender Equality, Health Nutrition, Environmental  and Poverty Eradication”,Prince Gbadebo disclosed while saying the winner e would use her good office to also raise funds for charitable organization in order to help the less-privileged  in the society.

Adding that :”Equally, she will assume the role of a Brand and Goodwill Ambassador to various organizations.

“Officially the shortlisted contestants  will be showcasing their talents at the Grand finale event tagged: “Night of Royalty” on Sunday 5th of November, 2017 at Daktad Suites Event Hall,Quarry Road Abeokuta,Ogun State.

“Blue Carpet 6:00pm Host by BabaTee (Nollywood Actor) and Bunmi Mustapha (City people magazine) featuring Award,comedy, music,and  pageantry.

“Pageant judges will be selected few days to the contest from the following fields :fashion, arts, education, government and corporate work.They will be  individuals of high integrity who occupy respectable positions in the society and command respect from the public.

“Assessment of contestants will be based on their intelligence, beauty and behaviour. We have  resolved to motivate the winner, runner-ups, Ambassadors and finalist with meaningful and tangible  prizes.

“It is on this note  we passionately and humbly call for more partners and sponsors  to aid the success of this laudable event we have no doubt that this event will indeed create an atmosphere for fashion and brands exhibition,including investments opportunities for our potential partners and sponsors”.
