GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has reiterated his administration commitment to promoting a strong opposition in the country.
According to him, this is to enhance that Nigeria’s democracy is being preserved.
The governor, while receiving New Telegraph Man of the Year Award in Lagos gave this assurance.
Wike also recalled that his government had upon assuming office in 2015, embarked on several laudable initiatives that were of direct benefit to the people in Rivers state.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs Ipalibo Banigo, boasted that Rivers State will take the lead for others to follow.
The state’s Chief Executive also promised to always promote credible opposition in the interest of the growth of Nigeria’s democracy.
“I want to say that my administration will continue to deliver quality projects and programmes to the good people of Rivers State”, said Governor Wike.
The governor, however stressed that aside from promoting good governance, he will work for the enthronement of the rule of law in the country.
