But for the freedom of expression, the millions following OperaNews would have been saved this disgusting narrative.
Hiding behind a pseudonym, an emergency analyst on operaNews, took wild lies to a higher level. The article, designed to look like a harmless analysis, was actually a cocktail of false claims.
In our clime, the tendency for emergency critics to single out performing leaders for castigation is not a new thing. To this extent, the shadowy writer joined the club of emergency critics that have been misleading many Nigerians for decades. Much to his disappointment, no single Akpabio aide has bothered to respond officially. That he has been ignored is a proof that he was merely into a charade.
It is obvious that the writer, apart from being an emergency critic, is an attention-seeking wag on the move – particularly the bubbling social media space where the editors are nowhere to be found.
On the whole, an Akpabio flip-flop doesn’t exist at all beyond the riotous imagination of the writer. Thanks to goodness not all Nigerians took his clumsy analysis with even a pinch of salt.
Truth is, Akpabio is not one to be easily distracted and majority of his critics tend to be hacks working for people, who feel threatened by his progressive ideas, mature politics and patriotism.
One thing is clear: the false narrative in this article is dead on arrival and this should be a lesson for attack dogs on social media wherever they may be.
Next time anyone wants to take-on Akpabio, my advice is he needs solid and indisputable facts. It is not a picnic to take on the Minister because his performance records have been sterling right from his era as commissioner in Akwa Ibom State. He is therefore, no match for cheap critics.
