The lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has celebrated Nigerian teachers on the occasion of the 2025 World Teachers’ Day, describing them as nation builders and key drivers of societal transformation.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his media aide, Idowu Ayodele, the lawmaker commended teachers across the country for their dedication, resilience, and sacrifice in nurturing future leaders.
Oseni, who also serves as Chairman, House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), noted that teachers play a vital role in shaping human capacity, which remains the bedrock of national development. He said the contribution of teachers to the moral and intellectual growth of citizens cannot be quantified.
“Teachers remain the torchbearers of every progressive society. They plant the seeds of knowledge, nurture dreams, and build the human capacity that drives national development. No nation can grow beyond the quality of its teachers,” Oseni stated.
He recalled how the guidance and discipline of his teachers influenced his personal and professional growth, adding that their mentorship shaped his commitment to public service and community development. According to him, the teaching profession deserves greater recognition and reward for its unmatched contributions to nation-building.
The federal lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to improving education within his constituency and across Oyo State through infrastructural support, bursary awards, distribution of writing materials, scholarships, payment of WAEC and JAMB examination fees, as well as teacher empowerment initiatives. He explained that his ongoing constituency projects are aimed at strengthening learning environments and motivating educators to deliver their best.
Oseni also urged the federal and state governments to accord greater priority to teachers’ welfare by improving remuneration, providing modern teaching tools, and creating a more conducive learning atmosphere in public schools. “When we value our teachers, we secure our nation’s future,” he said.
While congratulating all teachers in Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency and across Nigeria, he urged them to remain steadfast and passionate in their noble calling. He described them as the unsung heroes of national progress whose labour, he said, will never be in vain.
