The lawmaker representing Adamawa North Senatorial District,Elisha Abbo has been granted conditional bail by the Federal Capital Territory police command.
Senator Abbo was granted bail at about noon on Friday after meeting the conditions for his bail.
The police, however, did not reveal the specific terms of the bail.
Abbo had turned himself in on Thursday evening following an invitation by the police headquarters at the FCT, over the assault of a nursing mother at a sex toy shop in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
A video which went viral all over social media had shown the lawmaker hitting a lady following some misunderstanding at the adult toy store.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) M.A Adamu, had earlier ordered a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the assault.
According to the IGP, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, CP Bala Ciroma is to provide a personal and round-the-clock supervision of every facet of the investigation including the forensic analysis of the video currently in circulation as well as the actions and inactions of the policeman seen in the video footage.
It also remains nebulous if the lawmaker will be charged to court.
