The leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Oyo State chapter has hailed the management of the Federal College of Education’s decision (Special), for yielding to the demand of Nigerian students by reinstating the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the college.
According to NANS, “this reinstatement will give students of the College a voice again, promote inclusion of students in decision making and expose them to democratic representation”.
Contained in a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Asubiojo Olujuwon (Marshal) on Wednesday in Ibadan, NANS also congratulated the students as they approach what he described as a dispensation of democratic leadership through which they can channel their demands and agitations peacefully and intellectually.
The student body further commended the interim leadership that acted in the capacity when the Union was not in place, and various stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the reinstatement of the Students’ Union Government (SUG).
Continuing, the association urged students to learn from history and shun any form of violence, just as it promised to provide necessary support and solidarity needed as events unfolds.
NANS, however, noted that the leadership would continue to be civil and ideal in its ways and ensure students’ rights and demands prevailed at all time.
