Ara Foundation, a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) has been officially unveiled by Alhaji Ademola Oyepeju, in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, last Saturday.
Speaking at the official launching of the foundation, Oyepeju explained that Ara Foundation was founded to empower the less-privileged, people with disabilities as well as indigent students and widow, adding that God has helped the foundation to restore hope in the lives of many through various empowerment programmes.
The philanthropist, Oyepeju also informed that no fewer than two hundred (200) people were empowered by the foundation this year.
He said, “this year we are giving out motorcycles, sewing machines, scholarships and financial support as a form of economic aid to help people make a living “.
Some of the beneficiaries appreciated the kind gesture and pray for God’s blessings for the giver. They also promised to make judicious use of the empowerment materials.
Speaking further, he urged government at all levels to increase budgetary allocation and initiate policies that will enhance the advancement of youths in the country.
The industrialist averred that this would not only reduce unemployment but also take many talented youths who have turned into hoodlums because of lack of jobs off the street.
“If the leaders of tomorrow, the iyouths are engaged and gainfully employed there won’t be a need to be afraid of insecurity and attack on public facilities as it happened during the just concluded #EndSARS protest in many states across the federation.
“The government should not only release fund, but they should also monitor the allocation and usage as well as introduce guidance and counselling centres in strategic locations, empower agencies like National Orientation Agencies (NOA) and others to orientate people and do a periodical check on the beneficiaries”, Oyepeju advised.
Also commenting at the event, the chairman of the occasion, Prince Abass Aleshinloye advised youths to rise up to challenges of active participation in politics, to take over leadership like the older generation who began to rule in their prime.
He, however tasked them to be involved for positive advancement and progress.
Aleshinloye lauded Alhaji Oyepeju for his genuine passion for giving to people, urging people to emulate him for a better society.
