Oyo NANS Congratulates New Sports Commissioner, Fakorede

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Oyo State chapter, on Monday congratulated the newly-appointed commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, Mr. Seun Fakorede.

NANS, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Asubiojo Olujuwon Marshal noted that “youths across the country have over the years campaigned vehemently for the inclusion of younger persons in political offices, but when the world thought it was over with the election of a 25 year old lawmaker, Governor Seyi Makinde shocked the status quo with the appointment of a 27 year old Civil Engineer to head the ministry of Youth and Sports in the state”.

Congratulating Fakorede  on behalf of  the Nigerian students,  Comrade  Asubiojo further described the commissioner’s appointment as a round peg in a round hole “going by the proven leadership strength, sound knowledge of sports and youthful vigour”. He averred that Fakorede’s appointment would bring unprecedented development to the constituency.

“We wish to remind the Honorable Commissioner that he no longer represents himself and family alone, but the entire youths in the state and the country. As the world awaits the result of this bold appointment by Governor Seyi Makinde, it is our believe that Hon. Seun Fakorede will show the world that youths are the solution to the leadership problems of the world through focused leadership and laudable achievements”, the statement reads.

While commending Governor Makinde for reposing his trust in the youths by putting the youngest of the newly-sworn-in commissioners in charge of the ministry of Youth and Sports, NANS, however pledged the support of its leadership  in the state for the ministry under Fakorede’s watch.
