Oyo 2019: Makinde, Olaniyan, Others receive certificates of return

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday presented the Certificates of return to Oyo State Governor -Elect, Engr Seyi Makinde, his Deputy, Engr  Rauf Olaniyan and other 32 members of the Oyo State House of Assembly Elect.

The certificates of return was presented to Engr Makinde by the National Commissioner of INEC representing Oyo, Osun and Ekiti States, Prince Adedeji Soyebi at the Banquet Hall of Premier Hotel.

According to Prince Soyebi, the commission will not deviate in its onerous task of conducting credible elections in the country.

The INEC  boss, also appreciated the security operatives, political parties and other relevant stakeholders for their support towards the success of the poll.

He noted that Oyo state was among the few states that concluded the governorship and state house of Assembly elections without re- run

Also speaking at the event, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Barrister Mutiu Agboke thanked the people of Oyo state for the support given to INEC before, during and after the just concluded elections in the state.

Oyo INEC commissioner further explained that the presentation of certificates of return to winners of March 9 poll was in accordance with the constitution of the Nigeria constitution.

While receiving the Certificate of return, the Oyo Governor Elect,  Engr Oluseyi Makinde lauded the commission for conducting credible and acceptable elections in the state.

“The just concluded governorship and state house of Assembly elections in the state is a clear demonstration and commitment of INEC at making the vote of people count during elections”, he added.

The Incoming governor also promised to work harmoniously with the members of the State House of Assembly for the advancement and overall development of the state.

The commission had earlier presented certificates of return to 32 members of the 9th Oyo Assembly.
