Over 1000 children from 16 local governments area of Ekiti state and other part of Southwest today participated in the maiden edition of Kiddiefest.
Kiddifest, a socio-cultural event organized by Ekiti state council for Arts and Culture as part of activities marking 2019 edition of Ekiti State cultural Festival EKIFEST.
The event which was held at Motif Funland Iworoko features talent hunt, traditional dance competition, games and lecture on preservation and promotion of Yoruba culture and tradition.
In his opening remark, Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre, Director General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, said the event as one of the way through which the council is promoting and sensitizing the younger ones on the role of culture in the society
Ojo lanre said ” We need to make the younger ones understand the import of our culture so that they won’t loose ot or place foreign culture above theirs”
The DG who spoke in Ekiti dialect said Governor Fayemi and his wife are passionate about promotion of culture because they see it as a tool for propagating moral virtues in the younger ones
He, however urged parents , teachers and guidance to continue to give teach the younger ones and encourage them to see the need to speak their language and embrace their culture.
