President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for winning the governorship race in Osun State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Sunday declared the former lawmaker winner of the just concluded election.
Adeleke, emerged as the winner of the governorship election after polling 403,371 votes against his major opponent, Gboyega Oyetola who garnered 375,027 votes.
Reacting, President Buhari in a statement on his verified Facebook page, expressed satisfaction on the outcome of the exercise, saying, “this is what democracy is all about: respect for the will of the people”.
The president also vowed that his administration would continue to ensure credible elections in the country.
He wrote, “I congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on his victory in the Osun gubernatorial election. The people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot.
“The successful conduct of #OsunDecides2022 is a demonstration of the maturity and the commitment of all stakeholders, towards strengthening the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria.
“I remain fully committed to leaving behind a legacy of credible elections in Nigeria”.
