GBOYEGA Oyetola, the Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state on Friday emerged as the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 22 governorship election in the state beating the Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yusuf, the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Najeem Salam and 14 others.
No fewer than 17 aspirants participated in the exercise.
The Direct Primary of the party produced Oyetola as the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.

Announcing the result, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege declared Oyetola the winner of the contest having polled 127,017 votes to beat his closest challenger, Hon Lasun Yusuf, who scored 21,975 votes and Hon Najeem Salam who also recorded 17,958 votes.
Ovie Omo-Agege, however acknowledged the sportsmanship spirits that the aspirants displayed.
