The senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District, Tayo Alasoadura, who was reported to be the owner of the branded bags of rice being conveyed by the truck that killed dozens of people on Saturday night in Iworoko/Ifaki road in Ekiti State, has sympathized with the victims.
The Senator, who is recontesting his seat in the National Assembly, expressed his condolences in a statement issued on Saturday by his Media Aide, Dayo Joseph.
DAILY POST had reported how an articulated vehicle conveying the customised rice suspected to be for campaign purposes claimed the lives of over 15 people in the town.
It was gathered that the truck rammed into the town’s main market after it allegedly lost control as a result of suspected brake failure.
While commiserating with the people of Iworoko and Ekiti at large over the accident, Senator Alasoadura stated that “the said rice was purchased from a Rice Mill in Kebbi State to patronize/encourage our Local production of rice.”
He added that “the rice was actually meant for my constituents to enjoy Christmas/New year celebration as part of my love gift in the spirit of the season but the delivery was delayed till now.”
“Our prayers are with the victims and I pray for the repose of the souls of the departed ones and the fortitude for their families to bear the irreparable loss while I also wish the injured ones quick recovery and return to their normal activities,” he stated.
