The Ogun State Sector of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of five people after a fatal crash in the early hours of Sunday.
It said the accident involved two vehicles, leading to one injured while two others were rescued unhurt.
The sector’s Route Commander and Public Education Officer Florence Okpe in a statement said the suspected causes of the crash were a result of speed and wrongful overtaking on the part of the Honda car which had a side collision with the truck.
According to her, the injured victim was taken to General Hospital in Ijebu-ode and the bodies were deposited at the same hospital morgue.
The Sector Commander Federal Roads Safety Corps Ogun Sector Command, Anthony Uga described the crash as an avoidable one if caution was put in place.
He also advised motorists to stop making quick turns on the expressway and rather use the intersection or the proper turning point.
Uga sympathised with the families of the victims, advising them to contact FRSC Ijebu-ode Command for more information about the crash.
