NCC boss donates trailer load of cement, N1m to traders of Ibadan spare parts market fire

Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande on Monday donated  a trailer load of 800 bags of cement, N1million to affected traders of the fire disaster which engulfed the popular Araromi Spare Parts market in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The NCC Chief also expressed concerns over the fate of young graduating apprentices who on graduation in the market find it difficultt to raise the funds to start their own businesses.

He announced an Empowerment programme by the Adeolu Akande Foundation to provide Interest-Free loan for graduating young apprentices.

He further explained that the loan would be managed by representatives of the Foundation and members of the market, informing that the programme would commence immediately.

The Araromi market was gutted by fire penultimate week leading to loss of property worth millions of Naira.

Akande, who paid sympathy visit to traders of the market in the company of former Secretary to the Oyo state government, Alhaji Waheed Akin Olajide,

four former Commissioners, twelve former and serving local government chairmen and several members of federal board, elders and women leaders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) commiserated with them, praying that God will stop such bad occurrences in the market and in Oyo State in general.

The APC chieftain hinted that he had opened talks with government agency to ensure that palliative materials are supplied to the traders in the market.

He assured that this will soon come the way of the traders, noting that the Buhari – led administration is committed to the well being of citizens, including the traders.

Akande recalled that as a reporter in the Nigerian Tribune,he was a regular visitor to the Spare parts market because he started life with second and third hand vehicles that made him a friend of mechanics and regular visitor to the Spare Parts market.

” You know anyone who uses a second or third hand vehicle must befriend the mechanics and spare parts sellers”, he said.
