Mortgage rate forecast for next week (Sept. 12-16)
With the Federal Reserve signaling more aggressive policy actions to come, mortgage rates grew for the second week in a row.
The average 30-year fixed interest rate rose from 5.55% on Aug. 25 to 5.66% on Sept. 1, according to Freddie Mac.
The Fed’s September meeting and stance on reducing inflation will play a large role in dictating mortgage rate movement over the remainder of 2022. Many experts wonder if inflation reached its peak and if interest rate growth will start to slow as well.
