THE Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Adesoji Akanbi has said that he rode on his uncle’s shoulders into politics.
Akanbi, who planned to work in the public sector for a while and go private made this revelation while featuring on a private radio station in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital recently.
According to him, “accidentally, I came into politics through a late Uncle, he was a senator, Lere Adesina. One of the finest man I have ever met in my life. He drafted me in then to manage his account and there is no way you can manage someone’s account without getting involved in his activities. I got carried away when he was contesting for governorship. I was about 27 years old and by 29 I was pushed forward to contest for House of Representatives which I won. Thank God, I never lost my private business”.
Describing politics as service delivery, the lawmaker also attributed his political sojourn to his family background that believed in giving back to the society with human face, strong will, determination and bravery.
“I was not brought up in a capitalist world so my parents were more like when you have, you share, that actually led me into it”, he said.
