INEC Insists No Other List As Oyo ZLP Candidates’ Names Missing

IN line with its time table, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says no further list is being expected for the 2019 national assembly elections, aside the final list released recently by the commission.

Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo state, Barrister Mutiu Agboke disclosed this in a chat with Mega Icon Magazine on Monday.

When asked about the recently released list by INEC tagged ‘final list’, which revealed that most of the names that were earlier substituted were missing, especially the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidates, Barrister Agboke replied, “that is the final list. No further list is being expected please”.

Meanwhile, it was discovered that the Zenith Labour Party’s (ZLP) candidate for Ibadan Southwest/ Northwest Federal Constituency, Otunba Rotimi Ajanaku’s name is not on the list of  those vying for the seat.

The final list which was displayed at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ibadan, the state capital showed that Mr Abolaji Mumeen Gbadamasi is listed as the Federal House of Assembly candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the federal constituency.

In a related development, former council boss of Ido Local Government, Hon. Isiaka Adeola retains the ticket of ZLP Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency instead of Mr Bimbo Adepoju, whose name was submitted for substitution.

But, the ZLP Oyo State Publicity Secretary, Barrister Olajide Olanipekun had on Saturday through a press statement hinted that the party had earlier discovered that there are mix up concerning the substitution of some candidates who are no more members of the ZLP for those who were validly nominated by the party.

The press statement reads , “we wish to assure members of our party that necessary steps are being taken to reverse the mix up especially in respect of Oyo South and North senatorial districts and some House of Representative candidates”.

“Otunba Rotimi Ajanaku and all the executives are currently in Abuja now. The issue will be settled this week”, a close source to Otunba Ajanaku on Monday told our reporter.
