The pastor of Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Eruku, in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Abiodun Bamidele, has recounted how armed bandits invaded the church and unleashed terror on worshippers.

Bamidele, who spoke with journalists in the community, said the attackers stormed the church during a service and opened fire, killing three members on the spot.

He added that the gunmen thereafter whisked away no fewer than 35 worshippers into the bush.

“There was an incident when the bandits came, and they kidnapped almost 30 to 35 members of the church,” the visibly shaken pastor said.

The clergyman called on security agencies and the Kwara State Government to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted congregants and prevent further attacks in the area.

Details of the incident were still sketchy as of press time, however, residents added that fear has gripped the community following the invasion.
