On Sunday morning, chaos erupted at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota as hoodlums, alleged to be state-sponsored, chased away #EndBadGovernance protesters.
The conflict began around 10:30 am when a lawyer, known only as JP, urged protesters to leave following a national address by President Bola Tinubu. Despite this, 70-year-old Adegboyega Adeniji of Peace Action Transformation and his supporters refused to disperse, insisting on remaining at the park.
The police intervened, trying to convince the protesters to leave. However, moments later, a group of individuals emerged from across the road, allegedly dispatched to scatter the protesters. By 11:30 am, the situation escalated as the hoodlums returned, driving all the protesters away from Ojota. The police have since taken control of the area.
Before their eviction, the protesters had chanted solidarity songs and criticized President Tinubu’s address, arguing that he failed to address the key issues they raised.
Earlier, security agents had restricted the protesters to the designated Gani Fawehinmi Park and prevented them from marching beyond the area. The protesters complied but later faced hostility from the hoodlums.
