Gunmen kill FCC member, two others at viewing centre in Ekiti

The English Premier League which commenced on Friday night abruptly ended on a sad note at a viewing centre in Ado Ekiti when three people; including the Personal Assistant to ex-Governor Segun Oni, Mr. Bunmi Ojo were gunned down by unknown persons.

Ojo, untill his death was a Commissioner on the board of the Federal Character Commission(FCC) in Abuja, and was reportedly shot dead by the attackers at about 10 pm at a viewing centre in Adebayo area, along Iworoko, where he had gone in company of some of his political friends before the tragedy struck.

Our correspondent has not been able to Identify the two men that were killed with him.

A source told journalists on Saturday that six armed men invaded the viewing centre and shot Ojo, who was a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress and two others during a sporadic shooting.

According to the source, Ojo was shot in the head and stomach and his body has been deposited at the morgue of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti .

The incident has thrown the camp of Oni of into mourning and confusion, as many are beginning to read political meaning to the incidence.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Ekiti Command, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu
could not be reached to confirm the killing as he refused to pick the several calls to his phone by our correspondent.
