The Borno State Commissioner of Finance, Ahmed Ali Ahmed, has tragically passed away.
Ahmed, who was found dead in his residence on Damboa Road, Maiduguri, on Monday morning, reportedly died in his sleep.
Sources close to the situation revealed that concerns were raised when the commissioner did not wake at his usual time. His room door was subsequently forced open, and his lifeless body was discovered.
The state’s Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, confirmed the news in an official statement.
Ahmed, who was sworn in as Commissioner of Finance on August 10, 2024, previously served as the State Zonal Manager of Zenith Bank in Maiduguri, where he was well-regarded for his expertise in financial management.
This marks the third loss in Governor Babagana Zulum’s cabinet since his second term began in May 2023, with two commissioners and a special adviser passing away within this period.
Governor Zulum and the people of Borno State are left mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant who played a crucial role in the state’s financial administration.
