A tragic incident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has claimed four lives and left eight injured, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The FRSC statement confirmed the fatalities, indicating that the accident happened on Wednesday near the Car Park C turning area on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
The incident involved a Hovo truck and a Max bus with the registration number EPE 440 YG, as reported by the FRSC Ogun State Sector Command.
“The suspected cause of the fatal crash was excessive speed on the part of the Mazda bus that didn’t observe that the truck was making a turning and it led to the loss of control then crash by the bucket of the truck,” said FRSC spokesperson, Florence Okpe.
She mentioned that the injured victims were transported to two separate hospitals for medical care, while the bodies of the deceased were placed in the Idera morgue in the Sagamu area of Ogun State.
Continuing, the FRSC Ogun Sector Commander, Anthony Uga cautioned that speed is perilous, urging drivers to operate vehicles responsibly and adhere to all road signs.
He also expressed sympathy for the victims’ families, offering prayers for their strength.
