Senator Adesoji Akanbi has reiterated his commitment towards the rebuilding process of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state.
Akanbi, who represented Oyo South Senatorial District between 2015- 2019, also urged APC leaders and members in the state to focus on rebuilding and strengthening the party for the challenges ahead.
In a telephone interview with Mega Icon Magazine recently, the APC chieftain noted that though, there were factions in the party; but the aggrieved members are fully back to the progressives’ fold.
“Ibadan people cherish family name , and when members of the party felt cheated they went ahead to test the integrity of their family names. Elections have come and gone, electorates have decided and people have returned to the party we jointly built.
“Before now, I had opportunities of meeting the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo, my leader , Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and we had a robust discussion . Yes, there are factions, but I can tell you authoritatively that the aggrieved members are back. Despite the challenges facing Oyo APC, it will overcome”, he assured.
He disclosed further that major stakeholders, groups and factions in the party had submitted memoranda to the National Reconciliation Committee headed by former Governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande , adding that “they are patiently waiting for its resolutions”.
“My brother, everybody is important in this game. Members want the leaders to ensure a level field, they want the leadership to assure them of equal participation in all electoral contests as well as in the affairs of the party without discrimination”, he added.
Akanbi , however advised the Governor Adebayo Alao Akala -led Oyo APC Reconciliation Committee to study the memoranda earlier submitted by stakeholders to the National Reconciliation Committee so that genuine reconciliation can be achieved within the shortest period of time.
