Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has explained why he dropped midfielder, Paul Pogba from his side’s Premier League 3-1 defeat by Liverpool on Sunday.
Goals from Sadio Mane (1), Xherdan Shaqiri (2) gave Jurgen Klopp’s men all three points against United.
However, Jesse Lingard did score for Jose Mourinho’s men.
Mourinho said his decision not to feature Pogba against Liverpool was because he wanted to bring more aggressiveness and intensity in midfield.
When asked why Pogba did not feature against Liverpool, Mourinho told Sky Sports: “I made many decisions. I made many decisions with starting with 11 players and leaving others on the bench.
“I always try to choose what I think is best for the team. I think the team lately with [Ander] Herrera, [Nemanja] Matic and [Jesse] Lingard lost some qualities.
“But at the same time we become more aggressive, more simple, more intense without the ball and that’s what I think we need to play against such a fast team like Liverpool.”
