THE Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP), Ogun state chapter has called on all Physics teachers to make Physics interesting by developing simple methods of teaching the subject.
They made this call at the first seminar for stakeholders in the field of Physics, held at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, (FUNAAB).
Delivering the Keynote Address at the Seminar titled “Physics in our Today’s World”, was the ex -Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Oyo State and FUNAAB’s 56th Inaugural Lecturer, Professor Adeniyi Olowofela.
The Professor of Geophysics (solid earth), Olowofela noted that at the mention of the name “Physics” as a subject, people get terrified, calling on all Physics teachers to simplify their methods of delivery for Physics as simple as practicable to encourage young ones.
The University Don averred that if simplified, Physics equations should speak to the student, noting that though, the language of the subject is Mathematics, necessary and applicable equations can be understood when taught in a simplified method.
He, also tasked the participants to create a network and endeavour to publish if they are to excel in the field as academic, stressing that while as Physicists they should pick interest in what others are doing around them.
Olowofela, however charged that they should create or discover their market, which according to him, “creating market for others is like solving a societal problems”.
