A serving corps member in Kwara state, Hakeem Mahmud, has renovated a tap water stand which serves as a major source of clean water in his host community.

Mahmud, who hails from Saki in the Oke Ogun Area of Oyo state is a Food Science and Nutrition graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State.

After volunteering for weeks in water-starved Kwara community, where he repaired water stand, the Corps member knows firsthand not to take clean water for granted.

Mahmud, with the state code KW/17B/0654, while speaking with our reporter explained that the tap water stand which was destroyed by rainstorm, was the major source of water in his host community, Baale’s compound square before he took the responsibility of renovating.

He said, “the tap water is one of the major sources of getting water for the people living around the area. Unfortunately, it was damaged by heavy rainstorm. And I took the responsibility of renovating it in order to be able to put it into usage”.

“I carried out this project purely on charity work note and not in return of favour of any kind from an individual, organisation or the government or as the case may be”, Mahmud added.
