ONIMEKO of Imeko, His Royal Majesty, Oba Benjamen Oyeditan Olanite (Akanku IV), has urged Nigerians to emulate Jesus Christ, saying Christmas is about the celebration of the birth, life and love Jesus shared while as human, even now, as divine.
Contained in his Christmas message to Nigerians, which was made available to Mega Icon Magazine through his media office, Oba Olanite added that there is no greater gift and honour that one can give to Jesus Christ other than the exhibition of a forgiving spirit, display of love and promotion of absolute peace, because these are what the Lord Jesus Christ symbolises.
His message reads, “we all must see ourselves as equal before the almighty God who purposely created us with different cultural backgrounds, believes and religious affiliations. This will enable us achieve the much needed global harmony”
He enjoined the people of Imeko, Ogun State and Nigeria at large to rededicate themselves to the virtues of peace, love, justice, equity, piety, humility and service to others, which according to him, were the cores of the teachings and ministry of Jesus Christ.
The custodian of culture, however charged religious leaders in Nigeria to lead by example and act more like Jesus Christ and not just preach like Him, if they wanted their followers to take them seriously, just as he implored  public office holders to see the office as a public trust that must be held to the highest ethical standards.
