The Arewa Community in Ibadan North has endorsed the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Saturday’s bye-election, Hon. Wale Olatunji Murphy, pledging massive votes for him and the party.
The endorsement took place on Tuesday at a solidarity rally in Sabo, Ibadan, attended by members of the Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri, Igbo, and Yoruba ethnic groups.
Leaders of the Arewa Community described Murphy as a tested ally with a history of contributing to the development of the constituency.
“We heartily welcome you, Hon. Wale Olatunji Murphy. You are an age-long partner-in-progress who has immensely contributed to the progress and development of our federal constituency, especially this Arewa community. Your party, APC, has never disappointed us, and we appreciate your consistency and service to humanity,” one of the leaders said.
Traditional rulers present recalled the achievements of the late Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi Jagaban and the APC, urging Murphy to promote inclusivity, fairness, and unity when elected. They called for priority attention to women and youth empowerment as well as facilitation of federal job placements for local youths.
Addressing the gathering at the Sarkin Sabo’s palace, Murphy thanked the traditional rulers, chiefs, and residents for the warm reception.
“I appreciate our leaders and the entire Sabo community for aligning with our great party, APC. Let us continue supporting APC and vote for me as your federal representative this Saturday. By God’s grace, I will not let you down,” he said.
Murphy also urged voters to reject the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing it of mismanaging federal allocations.
“All they know is misappropriating funds, which has led to poor drainage, unpaved roads, and inadequate healthcare. With your full support, I am confident of victory,” he added.
The rally was attended by APC leaders and stakeholders, including Alhaji Bello Oladeji (BAO), Alhaji Audu Abubakar Marafan, Alhaji Teslim Omilabu Gandhi, Leader Fatai Akinlabi, Alhaji Wale Sanusi, Hon. Monsuru ‘Tunde Adeyemo (Socrates), Comrade Femi Awogboro, 2024 APC councillorship candidates, and community leaders.
