President Muhammadu Buhari has accepted the resignation of the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.
Buhari thanked Adeosun for her services to the nation and wished her well in her future pursuits.
DAILY POST had reported that Adeosun, who graduated from London East Polytechnic at the age of 22 in 1989, failed to comply with NYSC Act, which made it compulsory for every Nigerian graduate at home or abroad to participate in one year of mandatory service to the nation.
Recall that the NYSC had said that from their records, Adeosun applied for an exemption certificate, but failed to state whether the request was granted or not.
The Presidency in its initial reaction to the saga, said it hopes the certificate forgery allegation against the Minister of Finance would soon be proven to be false and added that investigations were ongoing.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, was quoted as saying then: “The Minister of Information has spoken on the matter. And a process is ongoing to address the allegations. When that process is complete, Nigerians will know the outcome.
“Some people want a particular outcome and because they are yet to see this outcome, they are not happy. Give it (investigation) time. There is a process ongoing.”
President Buhari has now also approved that the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, should oversee the Ministry of Finance with effect from today (Friday).
