The federal constituency which consists Ido and Ibarapa East Local Governments has been enjoying rotation of power based on political tradition until 2015 when people from Ibarapa East held sway to have undue advantage over their Ido counterpart.

Dropping this hint at the inauguration of the executive members of ‘One Voice’, a socio – political group in the Oyo APC comprising of youths from both councils, held at  Ido Local Government Secretariat, the overall party leader in the council, Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajisafe said the council will support, only a consensus candidate with an experience, intimidating profile, good track records, sellable and vibrant who will represent the constituency well to emerge as candidate in the forthcoming primary election.

Speaking further, Ajisafe said, ”  Ibarapa East Local Government has been in the helms of affair in the last 12 years. This is a  political turn-taking between the two councils irrespective of any political affiliation as a tradition and it has been helping us to maintain a peaceful political order.

“This tradition has really encouraged the  principles of trust, respect for fairness, equity, and justice as well as ensuring balancing of power. From 1999-2007, Hon. Sadiq Sanusi Anwo, a PDP from Ido Local Government occupied the seat, after which the former occupant, Hon. Yemi Taiwo, also a PDP member from Ibarapa  took over in 2007-2011. Then, the present occupant, Hon. Sunday Adepoju who lost to Hon. Yemi Taiwo in 2007 under Action Congress (AC) won the election in 2011 having contested under the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), and repeated same victory in 2015 (All Progressives Congress, APC).
