THE gubernatorial candidate of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo state, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has debunked the claim that he has resolved to collaborate with the APC for President Muhammadu Buhari reelection bid.
The Minister for Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, in an interview had earlier claimed that Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, the Oyo State ADC governorship candidate, has agreed to work, and support the reelection bid of APC’s President Muhammadu Buhari in the coming 16 February, 2019 presidential poll.
Debunking the claim on Sunday in a press statement written, signed and made available to Mega Icon Magazine by his media assistant, Damola Adeoye, dismissed the minister’s claim, describing it as misleading.
The statement further described the claim as a wishful thinking of Minister Shittu, urging him not to draw Senator Lanlehin into any proxy war with his estranged colleagues in the Oyo APC.
The statement reads, “our attention has been drawn to an interview granted Vanguard Newspapers by Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Honourable Minister for Communications, and reproduced by several online outlets, purporting that Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (SOLAN), Oyo State ADC governorship candidate, has agreed to work, and or support, the reelection bid of APC’s President Muhammadu Buhari in the coming 16 February, 2019 presidential poll.
“Without dissipating much energy on this expensive joke by the Honourable Minister, we want to quickly place on record, that the statement credited to him is false, and totally misleading on all fronts, hence, stands disregarded.
“At no time, did Minister Shittu and Senator Lanlehin have any discussion as to him supporting President Buhari; and matter of fact, there is even no basis for such, in the first instance.
” We, therefore, take this as a wishful thinking by the Honourable Minister, and in fact, urge him not to draw Senator Lanlehin into any proxy war with his estranged colleagues in the Oyo APC”.
Continuing, Lanlehin, however reassured members of his party, candidates, loyalists and supporters, that his primary focus is on the ADC performing excellently in both the 16 February and 2 March, 2019 elections, and not in the reelection of a member of another party.
