Residents of Ibadan metropolis, in Oyo state trooped out to meet with the deadline date of the 2018 continuous voters registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
In line with the work free day declared by the Oyo state government for workers and residents of the state to register and collect their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) ahead of the 2019 general elections, places such as state Secretariat Agodi, banks and Some government agencies were under lock and key in compliance with the state governments directive.
With the work free day, people trooped out to various registration centres to register so as to meet up with the August 31st Deadline.
Some of the places visited in Ibadan metropolis by Mega Icon Magazine crew witnessed large number of people who wants to register their names in order to participate in the 2019 general elections. Prospective voters defied rainfall.
It was difficult for INEC officials at the registration centers to accommodate many would be electorates on this last day of the exercise.
Some of the electorates who spoke with our reporter enjoined INEC to extend the registration period for another two weeks or a month.
They also expressed displeasure over the stiffness and slowness of the exercise which according to them, will deny many people the opportunity of registering and consequently make them unable to vote in 2019.
With the exercise closing today, it is apparent that some will be registered but many will have to wait for the next opportunity.
