The recent propaganda being spread about 100 days of  Governor Seyi Makinde is nothing more than a pack of half truths, misrepresentation of facts and blatant lies. Oyo State is yet to see any sign of purposeful leadership and sincere leadership in GSM.

Let us examine ‘their’ propaganda and respond to those points:

This is Seyi Makinde, 51years,
Executive Governor of Oyo State.

What is the big deal about a 51-year old person serving as Governor? Too old? Too young?

In just 100days in office he has achieved the following:

Primary and Secondary Education Free. Free exercise books and other materials for all school children. The books have no party logo. The books have no governor’s image. The books are not to be sold.

Free things are not to be sold na. What’s the big deal about EXERCISE BOOKS? Even Local Governments and individuals donate exercise books (not text books) to school pupils! It was said that what the GSM Government is doing is to remove and replace the covers of the exercise books printed by previous government. We have no proof of that though.

Pensioners and workers gets paid every 25th of the month and 23rd if pay day falls on weekend.

The last administration led by Governor Abiola Ajimobi was not owing workers’ salaries when he left public office by end of May. However, there were still backlog of pension arrears which are yet to be cleared till date.

Launched Oyo State-Farmcrowdy Agribusiness Partnership to commence a 3-year plan with 50,000 farmers in the state.

It’s a launching so far and we sincerely hope it sees the light of day. However, we are not aware of any process of selection of the farmers because there is one ongoing.

100 units of Kia Rio 1.4 Executive Automatic Transmission vehicles for the various security agencies.

Ajimobi did much better on this sector and procured Hilux vans and not KIA Rio which, you agree with me, are not rugged enough for that purpose.

Criminalise Open Grazing

We wonder what that means! Nothing has changed with the open grazing going on all over the state.

Begins e-registration of everyone living in Oyo State to determine the number of people living and doing business in the state.

We have not seen any evidence of this so far.

Proscribed NURTW because of violence in the state and to this day, they are yet to be back.

We agree to this. NURTW members don’t collect money anymore as the Local Governments have taken over this function. Kudos to him for this.

N500,000 bursary for every Oyo State indigene Studying in Law School.

This was done.

Publicly declared his assets.

This was also done

Established Oyo State Financial Crimes Commission to fight graft in government.

What is the purpose of EFCC? Does it have the power to prosecute in a court of law? Does it have the power to arrest? Will there be special courts?

Ready to waive his immunity if found to have stolen from government.

Who will find him to have stolen from government during his tenure? Cheap popularity!

Everything is strictly government, The N3000 levy imposed on Oyo school children by Governor Abiola Ajimobi was cancelled the second week Governor Seyi Makinde took office and declared full free and quality education in the state.

The Education Levy was actually cancelled on the day of his inauguration. This is actually one of the best initiatives of Governor Ajimobi who established School Governing Boards (SGBs) for every school. The N3,000 per year was being managed by the SGBs, with contributions from the PTAs and Old Students Associations towards reviving the schools. We all know how much the fortunes of the schools have been changed since the introduction of SGBs. Even, GovernorMakinde himself commends Ajimobi’s achievements on this. He was criticizing him during the campaigns only to acknowledge it as the best strategy. We don’t believe N3,000 is too much for any parent to contribute to his/child’s education annually.

And his monthly salary is N650,000.

One wonders where they got this figure from! In fact, on resumption, he publicly declared that he was donating his monthly salaries to pensioners in the State. Governor’s salaries are fixed at the national level by the Salaries and Wages Commission. Is that what his counterparts are earning as salaries? What about his security votes? This is a scam statement!

I don’t think this man is a Nigerian.

We too! Very ingenious “Invictus Obi kinda scam. It won’t last, my Governor,  Engr. Seyi Makinde has exhausted his honeymoon, unless he sits down and becomes more purposeful and focused in his approach to governance. So help him God!
