ZINEDINE ZIDANE insists he could be shown the door at Real Madrid if they are knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain.
Los Blancos’ horrendous season hit a new low last night as they were eliminated from the Copa del Rey by lowly Leganes at the Bernabeu.
And, despite having become the first manager to win back-to-back titles in the Champions League era as recently as May, he could be gone by March.
Asked whether his job would now be decided by the match against PSG following the 2-1 defeat by Leganes, he said: “Of course.
“That is really clear. I am responsible for this, I’m the coach. So I must find solutions.
“I must take on this situation. I will keep fighting always, keep working, try and look for things to make the team better. Nothing more.”
Much of Zidane’s success last season was built on the impressively managing of his entire squad, but he has been criticised for sticking to the same players this term.
However, he insists he does not regret resting the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale for a line-up which included several youngsters.
He added: “Some players needed to rest.
“When you see the team we picked today, you cannot say it is not a competitive team.
“That is what I do for each game. On paper this was a competitive team, then in the first half no, we did not compete.”
Real Madrid is a whopping 19 points behind Barcelona in La Liga and face battle just to finish in the top four.
While they finished behind Tottenham in their Champions League group.
Defeat against PSG could see him out of a job on March 6, when the second leg takes place.
