Yahaya Bello okays payment of N30,000 minimum wage for Kogi workers

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has approved the implementation of N30,000 as minimum wage for the workers in the state.

Folashade Arike Ayoade, the Secretary to the State Government made this know  on Tuesday after an extensive meeting with the organised labour in Lokoja.

Ayoade blamed the delay in the implementation on the inability for the committee to meet regularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has been overcome.

Also, the state’s scribe SSG lauded the organised labour for their understanding and patience, which she said  has resulted into the signing of the implementation of the new minimum wage.

Also commenting, the Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja commended the organized labour for their understanding and commitment at reaching the agreement amicably without resorting to strike action.

He described Governor Bello as a leader who is passionate about the welfare of civil servants and would continue to give priority attention to its workforce.

The State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Onuh Edoka noted that Kogi State civil servants have been brought to the same level as their counterparts in other states already implementing the new minimum wage.
