Why we embarked on N300m CSR road in Mallam Aminu Kano Airport – CITA Group

The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, of CITA Group, Dr. Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe who powered the N300 million road project linking Aminu Kano International Airport Kano, Kano State has described the gesture as conformity with the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) policy of his firm.

The Prince from Ajagbusi Ekun ruling house of Iloko-Ìjẹ̀sà, Oriade Local Government area of Osun State who is renowned for his philanthropic and humanitarian disposition said this while addressing newsmen after the commissioning of the project held recently.

“This construction of the road network is one of various community development projects embarked upon by CITA Group which is in line with our CSR policy and CSR involves individuals within a business recognizing the various ways that their business processes negatively affect people and the communities they serve and then devising a solution to help tackle it.

“Despite its transformative power and positive influence on businesses and firms, corporate social responsibility is still a poorly understood concept amongst business leaders and executives in Nigeria, which has resulted in them undertaking a more voluntary and philanthropic approach to CSR.

“However, CSR Initiatives in Nigeria and Africa at large go beyond charitable giving. It is the corporate world’s ethical and economic responsibility and, as such, should be treated as a priority”, Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe who is the Chief Executive Officer and the pioneer Chairman of the Aviation Fuel Marketers Association of Nigeria, (AFMAN) noted.

Prince Ogungbangbe who is an experienced world-class Business Manager that has over the years demonstrated achievements in value creation in key industries has however revealed that more of these CSR projects are presently being powered by the Group at different locations in the country.
