A Ligue 1 referee could be in big trouble after he kicked out at a player in Paris Saint-Germain’s clash against Nantes on Sunday.
Tony Chapron inadvertently collided with Nantes’ Diego Carlos as the pair were running towards the host’s penalty area in injury time.
While on the turf, the official unbelievably kicked out at the Brazilian defender, connecting with his right shin.
Carlos immediately turned around and held out his hands, baffled as to what had just happened.
Chapron then proceeded to hand the 24-year-old a yellow card.
It was the defender’s second booking of the game and he was given his marching orders.
The referee was left explaining his actions to Carlos’s team-mates, who were equally as baffled by the entire incident.
PSG went on to win the game 1-0 after Angel Di Maria’s goal in the 12th minute proved to be the difference.
Following Monaco’s goalless draw against Montpellier, Unai Emery’s side now sit 11 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.
