Top five cheapest Premier League match day tickets revealed – both Arsenal and Liverpool make the list

Football is expensive these days, whichever way you look at it.

Gone is the time when you’d stroll down the road to see your local team play for a few quid. Today football is big business, and clubs pump a lot of money into making their corporate sections top notch to attract customers with deep pockets.

But it doesn’t have to be an overly expensive day out, according to the Matchday Calculator from FreeSuperTips.

According to research, Liverpool fans can go and watch their team in action in the Premier League for as little as £9 – that’s £41 less than the cheapest match day ticket to watch Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Premier League new boys Fulham offer the second cheapest ticket in the top flight, with prices starting at just £20.

In third place are last season’s Championship’s winners Wolves, who charge fans £25 to watch the Wanderers take to the field at the Molineux.

The cost of the cheapest ticket to watch 2016 Premier League champions Leicester City this season is £26. While in joint fifth place is Arsenal and Newcastle, who charge their supporters £27.

Of course, match day ticket prices at Arsenal can be as expensive as £97 – the steepest in the entire division – in certain areas of the Emirates.

But their starting price of £27 goes someway to shatter the myth that watching the Gunners play live is entirely unattainable for anyone other than a millionaire.

Season ticket prices at the Emirates range from £891 (the highest price in the league for a low-end season ticket) to £1,768 (the second highest price in the league, behind Tottenham, for a high-end season ticket).

Season ticket prices at Liverpool meanwhile range from £685 (the third highest price in the league for a low-end season ticket) to £869 (the tenth highest price in the league for a high-end season ticket).
