Chairman, House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in Oyo State, Engr. Aderemi Oseni, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its commitment to infrastructural development, especially road rehabilitation and reconstruction across Nigeria.
Speaking at a media parley in Lagos on Thursday, Oseni described the president’s investment in road networks as a strategic effort to transform the nation’s transportation system and strengthen economic growth. He said that having traversed the country extensively in his oversight role at FERMA, he could attest to the visible progress being made under the present administration.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is laying the foundation for a recalibrated Nigeria that will show the way forward for Africa,” he said. “We have observed federal roads undergoing massive rehabilitation and outright reconstruction in both the North and South, including major projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, and the Ibadan-Ilesha-Akure-Benin Highway.”
The lawmaker noted that improved efficiency and increased budgetary support have enabled FERMA to address Nigeria’s decades-long road challenges effectively. “These initiatives reflect the administration’s conviction that effective transportation is the lifeblood of every economy,” he added.
Oseni, however, expressed concern that opposition parties are ignoring the progress being made under Tinubu’s government, urging Nigerians to remain vigilant against regressive forces. He further revealed that he has established the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), a non-political and non-ethnic forum aimed at mobilising support for the APC and the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
ROCOF, according to him, currently has over 200,000 members in Oyo State committed to promoting good governance, justice, and sustainable development. “In the South-west alone, our vision is to achieve at least 75 per cent voter turnout and ensure the APC secures no fewer than 10 million votes in the presidential election,” he said.
Oseni also emphasised the importance of continuous voter registration and civic education, highlighting the need to improve voter turnout from the 26.72 per cent recorded in the 2023 general elections. “Our journey to 2027 has already begun, and we are determined to change the narratives by educating our people to register for PVCs and exercise their civic responsibilities,” he said.
On his political future, Oseni hinted at a possible governorship ambition, saying, “I am considering succeeding Gov. Seyi Makinde if the Almighty God and my party, the APC, permit. However, this is not a do-or-die affair. The governorship race involves dialogue and strategy, and I will abide by the decision of my party.”
